Oh, I have dreamt about this series my whole life! I have been working very hard for over a year, deciding, contemplating, drawing, researching, being both deeply torn & inspired by the current world affairs. Then, in December 2008, coming home from a spiritual retreat, it hit me like a ton of arrows thru my soul . . . This series was ready to be born to the world . . .
With this first piece, I have incorporatated recycled, cut-up heart shapes that I use for my prices tags . . . Yep, unconventional girl that I am, I made my own handwritten price tags. And after all, what is the price of Peace, anyway? Since a young child, I have always found beauty in things that most would throw away. So I kept the leftover pieces of scrapped paper. In fact my whole art career was born from recycled materials. So I find myself recycling thru the corners of my mind.
How does one artist inspire an age-old dream of Peace, Love, Kindness, Compassion, Respect and the list goes on. I found, in my spiritual journey, an ability to forgive myself for my own short-comings and in that journey, I found many times a war within myself and with others . . . Our wish for peace on earth & within every nation & culture starts within our own hearts. It is amazing what we can do as one person to inspire peace and love. And every day, we have a chance to demonstrate it.
Every time I release a new piece, I liken it to giving birth. This one feels like it was always meant to be.
